Welcome to Acorns Nursery

In Acorns we love to be creative! We encourage and support the children to develop skills for lifelong learning through adult-led group times and child-led ‘exploring’ time. The children work with their key worker during their group times and play independently during exploring time.

Our ‘Squirrel’ group are our pre-school age children while our ‘Hedgehog’ group are our youngest children.

Our Squirrel group work with their key worker Miss Wood during group times. Miss Wood is our Nursery Teacher.

Our Hedgehog children work with their key worker Mrs McGroarty during their group times. Mrs McGroarty is our lead teaching assistant.

Mrs Bradley our teaching assistant, works in Acorns Nursery and supports children with any additional needs, delivering interventions and supporting children with personal targets.

Our curriculum covers the seven areas of the Early Years Statutory Framework and is tailored to meet the needs of all of our children, building on their own interests. Our group times are planned carefully by our class teacher and include maths and phonics sessions as well as afternoon activities such as forest school and cooking. We follow the ‘Little Wandle Foundations for Phonics’ programme and ‘Master the Curriculum’ for maths. This is in line with our whole school teaching and learning so that children are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to be successful learners when they start school.
